Anyu- Female- 9 Years- Inuit Outcast
Appearance: Anyu stands at an underwhelming 4'2", with thin, gangly limbs and sharp elbows. Her hair is coal black, messily cut and hanging limply about her shoulder-blades, though sometimes scraped back into a short ponytail at the nape of her neck. Her face is still rounded with the last of her baby-fat, and her eyes are wider than most and colored a dull, muddy brown. She has a button nose, often turned red with cold, and a smile to light up the world. Though she has proper clothing, she is often seen trudging about with a fur coat much too large for her, meant to fit one well over twice her age.
Personality: Anyu is an odd one, capable of doing complete emotional three-sixties in the blink of an eye. She is, for the most part, quiet and sullen, though this doesn't last very long as she is very easily riled up (something which others find amusing at times, due to her age). She could be interested in something one moment and tire of it in the next. Despite this, though, she seems to cling to her childish ways with a tenacity that's surprising, enjoying simple games and stories when offered. She never smiles unless she means it, and her normally dull eyes will light up like the sun. She is gruffly compassionate, though will immediately deny caring for someone if confronted about it and, if complimented or shown affection, will quickly change the subject in a flustered and rough manner.
History: Anyu was born to a small tribe just south of the mountain range, and since birth, had always been a happy (if not obnoxious) child. Her father had died before she was born, though her mother had seemed determined to make up for his absence with twice the attention. They had been close, even for family, and mother and daughter were rarely seen apart. Anyu was the sort of ringleader of the tribe children, and would make up games and tell them stories with wild arm gestures and an enthused air about her. However, when food became all but nonexistent and relationships strained due to hunger, something she had never considered happened - the tribe split. Well over half chose to leave, heading away from the mountains in the hope of better lands, whilst a few chose to stay - herself and her mother included - unwilling to leave that which they had grown up on behind. This, as it were, was the wrong choice. One by one, the few remaining people succumbed to hunger, passing in their sleep and, gradually, leaving Anyu alone. When it was finally just her and her mother, Anyu would spend every day scrambling about in a fruitless attempt to find food to add to their dwindling stores, and would spend every night by her weakened mother's bedside, listening to false promises of how everything would be alright.
It wasn't, not really.
When her mother inevitably passed, Anyu left her old home, wandering aimlessly in an effort to find food, other people, anything. She was wracked with an irrational yet unshakable guilt, as she suspects that the only reason she had outlived anyone was because her mother had sacrificed some of her own rations for her daughter. With only her mothers coat and a small bit of dried meat to get her by, the young girl had set out into the wilderness.
Habits: She will wrap her overly large coat around herself when uncomfortable or insecure, and is hardly ever seen without it; she tends to lash out if it is taken from her. She is not above stomping her foot when frustrated, either, and still sees hair-pulling as an acceptable and highly underrated defense when she feels threatened. Well, when she can actually reach other people's hair.
Strengths: Anyu can sew - well, she can do something akin to sewing. At least, when her clothes rip, she can stitch them back together well enough to be acceptable. She had always been good at, and enjoyed, telling the other tribe children stories, though she supposes that skill isn't of much use anymore. She can identify basic herbs and, sometimes, remember their uses.
Weaknesses: Being young and not yet having started any official training, she lacks any true physical strength, so when it comes to activities that require any she is near useless. She lacks some of the worldly maturity needed to help make decisions for a group, and is still highly dependent on others.
